American retro jazz diva Laura Ainsworth specializes in giving Great American Songbook era songs a brand new lease on life. “Goldfinger,” the James Bond film classic, received a drastic reworking on Laura’s fourth album, You Asked For It, along with a brilliant lyric video that plays like a 1940s film noir movie.

Her latest studio album You Asked For It has already enjoyed brisk sales in Japan on the popular mini-LP CD format. The album features familiar songs requested by her fans, with her backup band recorded live in the studio in a late-night jam session style.

Laura has three prior studio albums to her credit, entitled Keep It To Yourself (2011), Necessary Evil (2013) and New Vintage (2017). In 2019, her 180-gram vinyl “best of” album Top Shelf (2017) received a favorable review in Japan’s Jazz Life magazine, which led to Japanese record chain Disk Union picking up the album for distribution. Japanese distributor Ratspack Records reissued Top Shelf as an expanded mini-LP CD in September 2021. Her entire catalog has received warm, vinyl-like remastering from Grammy®-nominated engineer Jessica Thompson (Erroll Garner).

Laura’s performances have earned her critical acclaim and industry honors throughout the world. She has been featured in periodicals such as Down Beat, Broadway World, Jazz Critique, and CD Journal. Her appearance in two best-selling international compilations led to a successful tour of India and Dubai. In 2018, she was the recipient of an unprecedented three-award sweep of the AMG Heritage Awards for Female Vocalist, Album and Video of the Year. She has also won three Global Music Awards bronze medals, two 2018 Clouzine International Music Awards, and five 2017 Josie Music Awards nominations.

Tatiana Monèt Brown is an American singer/ songwriter from New Jersey. Her family states “she started singing as early as she could talk”. Her mom, who was in the church choir and her dad who is a rapper/ songwriter, sparked her interest in music at a very young age. Tati and her father share a love for music and bond over the process of creating it. Tati recorded her first song with her dad at 12 years old. Tati first captured the public’s eye in 2019 when she released her first two singles “It’s Over” and “Run it Up” while in college. Since that time, the young artist has recorded 15 other songs and also gained a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.

“Helping the community is important to me. I also stand for women’s empowerment, ambition and perseverance.”  – Tatiana Monèt Brown

According to Tati, her style of music is “R&B with a sprinkle of Hip-Hop”. “The outcome (of the music) is what inspires me to create music. Bringing my vision to light and hearing the final product always gets me pumped. Hearing songs that I’ve made and reminiscing about how and why those lyrics were used to create them is always a surreal feeling. The creative fire never stops burning for me. Life is a rollercoaster with many ups and downs, new relationships and surprises so it is limitless. And that is how I see music.” – Tatiana Monèt Brown

In her latest single, “Gettin’ to The Bag”, Tati uses the moment to flaunt a luxurious life- consisting of money, shopping and partying with friends. She tells it how it is: “Don’t get too attached // I ain’t got the time.” When asked how she came up with this song, Tati explained, “I just heard the beat and started singing. It only took about an hour to write the lyrics. I had my girls with me for support, so the process was a lot of fun”.

“Music has, and always will be a big part of my life. I’m fully invested in this. It is my passion.” – Tatiana Monèt Brown

The visuals match her lyrics and the idea of living a ‘high-class life’. “This is something that I will look back at one day when I possess everything that I worked hard for and fantasized about.”

– Tatiana Monèt Brown

When asked about what Tati stands for, she advised, “I stand for many things, especially helping the community. That is why I would also like “Getting to the bag” to be used as a slogan for giving back” in which her sorority is highly known for. Aside from the title to her latest track, Tati created reusable bags in which she frequently donates food and clothes to those less fortunate. “Ya’ll know reusable bags are a hot commodity in Jersey”, she said with a giggle.

Juliana MacDowell’s music career is as much a surprise to her as any one. “It’s true that I just sort of fell into this business, but I’m pretty sure I was whistling in the womb, and I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember.” A tumultuous childhood, marred by loss and periodic separation from her parents prompted Juliana to seek consolation in music. “Music evokes the happiest memories of life on my grandfather’s farm, where I sang to the swallows in a cavernous barn and whistled to winged warblers in the forest.” Piano became a close companion to Juliana at a young age after her great-grandfather placed her on the bench of his 1939 Steinway (right). Important musical influences include Elton John; Sting; James Taylor; Simon & Garfunkel; Peter Gabriel. But Juliana says it was her great-grandfather, Otis Beall Kent, who planted the seed for her love of music.

Juliana has played with legendary bassist and award-winning singer-songwriter, FREEBO (Bonnie Raitt, 10 yrs; CSN; Ringo Starr…) and shared the stage with Jon Carroll (Starland Vocal Band) and Michael Clem (Eddie from Ohio) in Justin Trawick’s “The 9.” Her first full length CD, “Take Me Away,” produced by WAMA award-winning producer, Marco Delmar, contains tracks by Freebo; mandolin player, Matt Cartsonis (Warren Zevon; John McEuen); guitarist, Matt Backer (Elton John, Cher, Julian Lennon); drummer, Jason Hann (String Cheese Incident. EOTO…); esteemed D.C. players, Ken Barnum, Nathaniel Davis and more.

Juliana’s live performance on WKYZ’s Pirate Radio caught the ear of British producer, Ian Shaw, with whom she recorded her second album, “Leaving Home.” Shaw also arranged for co-writing sessions with British Pop-Star, Nick Heyward (Haircut 100). Juliana’s third album took her to Nashville to work with legendary producer, Bil VornDick, about whom she says: “I enjoyed Bil’s relaxed approach to recording.. He is very organic about it and likes to get to know his artists really well – find out what makes them tick. His process is remarkable – he pays attention to every minute detail and it’s a blast working with a true production and engineering genius.”

Juliana loves to play charity gigs and divides her time between her home in Western Loudoun County, Virginia and Key West, Florida. “I have been monumentally blessed in my life with both the good and the bad. The former, providing the encouragement to stay in forward motion, and the latter refining the soul. It’s been a wild ride so far and I’m excited to see what’s just around the bend.”

Conch Town Records signed Juliana’s second album: Leaving Home (British Indie producer, Ian Shaw). The album released Friday the 13th, March 2020 – days before Covid-19 pandemic pandemonium locked down the U.S.. Unfortunate timing perhaps but the album shines and features a cast of prodigious players from across the globe. Award-winning songs like “All Those Things” and “Two Kinds Of People” gained Juliana traction beyond the east coast where she got her start. Juliana’s first album, “Take Me Away,” (2015) features rock single, “Gotta Roll.”

Juliana’s latest album Big Old Yellow Moon is set to release Spring 2023 and remains an impressively diverse collection of mini-masterpieces ranging from beguiling ballads to kick-up-your-spurs pop-country. The album’s title track offers a palatable pairing of 1940s-style lilting melodies with an island-inspired motif. Produced by the masterful hand of Bil VornDick it was the last album he ever made before his unexpected death in July 2022. Big Old Yellow Moon is dedicated in loving memory to the enormous personality and talent of Bil VornDick.

“If music is truly a healing force, MacDowell is its epitome. “Leaving Home,” her second album, is a massive project…MacDowell has a gift for melodic, sing-along type songs and the musicians punctuate in just the right places…“In the Dark” has a somewhat gloomier instrumental backdrop but MacDowell’s lyrics take the higher road, encouraging us how to get out of the bleak state of mind. “All Those Things” seems to owe to her bluegrass Virginia roots while the standout “Midnight Hour” begins as a soft-spoken ballad revealing her pure, well-articulated vocals which build in power through some stunning sequences featuring the string section…She shows us both her serious side and also brings out a funnier, tongue-in-cheek approach to “Cruel Woman.” The horn-infused title track, filled with rollicking licks, speaks about leaving for Nashville, not Key West, but MacDowell is likely singing metaphorically about leaving her past behind… Juliana comes across as a naturally gifted singer…this is a well-conceived, impeccably rendered project, as evidenced in part by the high-profile stature of some of these backing musicians, but mostly through MacDowell’s animated, enthusiastic delivery.”

– Jim Hynes, Elmore Magazine

“Juliana MacDowell offers a sunny set from Key West… Juliana MacDowell recorded much of her new album in Key West, Florida, where she lives part of the year, far from the music biz’s biggest stages “Leaving Home” makes her talent hard to miss, however. MacDowell’s second album, and the first for the new indie label Conch Town Music, is as sunny as the Keys and a melodious showcase for her fine singing and songwriting. “Leaving Home” grabs the ear and invites a smile right out of the gate with the opener “I Like,” which — as elsewhere — benefits from Matt Backer’s inventive guitar work. Horns propel the title cut, a voyage of discovery that leads MacDowell to a happy ending. And the piano-and-strings ballad “Midnight Hour” offers a reminder that life isn’t all beautiful sunsets, even in Key West. On the fiddle waltz “Two Kinds of People,” MacDowell sings, “I deserve to be heard.” She’s absolutely right.”

The fiery, comet-like passions of early years flash brightly across adolescence, rarely penetrating as brightly into older age. But, persevering even through the longest and strangest trips, the echoes of that devotion can be felt till the end. Available and poignant still to those who care, the embers of love and art remain tangible and accessible.

Dan Russell: the artist manager and advocate, concert promoter, producer, creative collaborator, video and film music supervisor; has helped launch a thousand ships (well, maybe just a few hundred!) throughout his lengthy resume. As the critical aide-de-camp to dozens of aspiring artists and proven superheroes, it seems he’s always been in demand through a voluminous 35-year professional career. Is it because he sensed the needs of his ‘client’ and ‘the project’ with such zeal and focus that his friendship and trust inevitably elevated what could have been a mere business liaison? Russell’s reputation in music circles is one of a man willing to stand unwavering in the gap.

That commitment led to decades of work with The Call and it’s lead singer Michael Been, Mark Heard, U2, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Sam Phillips, Andy Pratt, Bruce Cockburn, Switchfoot, Robin Lane, The Vigilantes of Love, Ramona Silver, Rachel Taylor, The Violet Burning and more. In 1998 Russell co- founded Soulfest, the first New England social justice music festival which has become an annual event attended by many thousands.

However, in “those younger days,” he wasn’t a ‘business dude’ at all. After high school, as a singer and guitarist, Russell’s great pastime became songwriting. “It was just a cathartic exercise. I’d get together with friends, and we would share our songs. We had a desire to convey our thoughts to music and it was fun.” But over time, his solo voice submerged, supplanted by writing collaborations, productions, or projects that came his way. “I would befriend or get close to artists. They’d say something like, ‘Hey, I just recorded a record for a label; do you know how I can get a band?’ So, I’d push my stuff aside and work on their projects.”

But, the desire to return to that earlier role, writing and performing his own work, never abandoned Russell. The ‘echoes’ kept dragging him back until finally, Russell deemed one important collaboration or promised business commitment to be the last one. Then, with official duties forestalled, the guitars came out of their cases and studio time was booked to record a series of his personal songs, the cryings of his own heart.

Working with a small band including his son Jesse, producer and guitarist Michael J. Pritzl, plus Rachel Taylor and Ramona Silver on backing vocals; Russell approached the sessions for his first solo album, Feel the Echoes, as a rare gift of time given to himself. “Life is a sacred adventure, a journey, and it was my time to do this,” he relates. “People who are sixty have, like, 12 records out; I’ve got one! We’ll give you the senior discount for the duration!”

Kidding aside, the songs on Feel the Echoes are expressions of Russell’s deepest heart and experiences. “If you’re only looking at what’s trending now and writing a song from that, it’s just exploitive. I’d be lying,” he explains. “The authenticity comes from the fact that it’s me; but you and I are not so far from each other. It’s autobiographical and reflects a journey that did not start a minute ago. My ego won’t support a hoax.”

The Love Kills Theory is an alternative rock band originally based in New York City. They were formed in 2006 by Cevin Soling. In January 2007 they released their debut album Happy Suicide, Jim!, a thirteen track CD with philosophical and anti-consumerist themes. The album was released on Xemu Records. The band’s lineup consists of Cevin Soling on vocals and guitar, Bill Brandau on keyboard, Jim Minics on guitar, Darren Pilato on bass, and Jaron Stewart on drums.
After his first band, The Neanderthal Spongecake, broke up in 2001, Soling formed The Fifth Dementia and played shows in NYC. Soling wrote several albums worth of songs, and in 2006, he contacted musicians he had played with or was friendly with to form a new band. Bill Brandau, who had played with Soling in The Neanderthal Spongecake and had previously been in The Vinnie Barbarino Experience, took on keyboard duties. Darren Pilato was asked to play bass, and Jaron Stewart of the band Merkaba was included on drums. Jim Minics joined as guitarist; his 2003 band Minix had been a semi-finalist in the Independent Music World Series.
Drawing from influences such as the works of Guy Debord, founder of Situationist International, and Aldous Huxley, and fused with the current bio-genetic studies on the evolution of despair, the love kills theory forged their own philosophical commentary on contemporary life.
The Love Kills Theory debut album ‘Happy Suicide, Jim!’ peaked at number 162 on CMJs Top 200 and was also No. 1 on KZMU and had a long run in the top 5 albums in Montreal. The song “Authenticity” was played and featured on the Public Radio Exchange. Album reviews were extremely positive, with Dont Magazine declaring, “Happy Suicide, Jim! is probably the most important album of the year. It is certainly one of the best.”
In 2021, their song, “Found,” peaked at #56 on the Media Base Top 40 Radio chart. The song “Something Goes Around” was also released in 2021 and is rising on the charts and has already reach #10 on the global digital radio rock charts.

With her debut EP in 2019, “Girl I Know”, Baker Grace (pictured Above) emerged as an artist with undeniable confidence. She stretches the boundaries of pop music and with each new release shows a new level of musicianship and introspection while maintaining her integrity and singularity. The 22-year-old singer-songwriter from Weehawken, NJ is working to create her own charming reality aside from the masses.
Her sophomore EP, “Yourz Truly” illuminated her inner world and personal philosophies more freely than ever, sharing her story with equal parts boldness and dreamy sensitivity. Each song represents either a letter to herself or to someone else. “Yourz Truly” was followed by collaborations with rising star Cautious Clay, Grammy-nominated producer Scott Harris (Shawn Mendes, The Chainsmokers, Chance The Rapper, Kygo), and Mexican pop singer-songwriter Charlie Rodd. Following a slew of singles in 2021, Baker wrote four songs on the soundtrack for the feature film Last Survivors, which topped the charts on Hulu, featuring the breakout track, “Lullaby”. Splitting her time between NYC and Los Angeles, she has continued through 2022 with singles “Shake The Earth” and “Pressure” along with stunning music videos to accompany them.
Baker Grace continues to perfect her craft each day and has much more to come in 2023.

Straight out of the heart of South Africa comes an emerging male pop artist, Joss Austin. He’s recently signed a deal with Riveting Music.
Originally from Durban, South Africa, Joss has been slowly breaking into the music scene since his teen years. Though he started out pursuing pop music, he’s now fully transitioned into a unique rap and hip-hop style of music, making it his own. Joss has been compared to Post Malone, but truthfully, his music comes with a fresh, original take as he mixes sexy vocals with catchy rap verses.
For Joss, his dream is what keeps him motivated, not money, not fame, but his dream and passion for music. He looks forward to being an example for those that might feel discouraged based on their circumstances. He believes that if a kid from Durban, South Africa can work hard and land an international record deal to make his own album, then it’s possible for others too.
“I’m not striving for money or success but for happiness. This is what makes me happy. That’s my goal,” Joss says. “I want to show kids that they can too, no matter where they come from.”
